Media Sharing on WhatsApp: Videos, Images, and Documents
WhatsApp has revolutionized the way we communicate, making it easy to share various media types with friends, family, and colleagues. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to effectively share videos, images, and documents through the platform.
1. Sharing Images
To share images on WhatsApp:
- Open the Chat: Select the contact or group chat where you want to send the image.
- Attach the Image: Tap the paperclip icon (or the “+” sign on iOS) located in the text input area. Choose “Gallery” to select an existing image or “Camera” to take a new photo.
- Edit and Send: You can add captions, crop, or draw on the image before hitting send.
2. Sharing Videos
To share videos:
- Select the Chat: Open the desired chat.
- Attach the Video: Tap the paperclip icon and choose “Gallery” to pick a video from your library, or select “Camera” to record a new video.
- Trimming and Sending: WhatsApp allows you to trim the video length. Once satisfied, add a caption and send it.
3. Sharing Documents
To share documents like PDFs or Word files:
- Open the Chat: Choose the contact or group.
- Attach the Document: Tap the paperclip icon and select “Document.” Navigate to the file you want to share.
- Confirm and Send: After selecting the document, you can add a message before sending it.
Tips for Effective Media Sharing
- File Size Limits: Keep in mind that WhatsApp has file size limits (up to 16 MB for videos and 100 MB for documents). Consider compressing larger files before sharing.
- Privacy Settings: Ensure your privacy settings are configured to control who can see your shared media.
- Use Wi-Fi When Possible: To avoid data charges, share large files over a Wi-Fi connection.
Important Update: New Media Template Sending Method on WhatsApp
We are excited to announce a significant update regarding the way we send media templates via WhatsApp. To enhance delivery speed and reliability, we have transitioned from using a link property from our storage server to utilizing the ID property.
What’s New?
- Direct Uploads to WhatsApp: Media files will now be uploaded directly to WhatsApp, allowing us to use the corresponding media ID for sending.
- Improved Delivery: This change aims to ensure faster and more consistent media delivery for templates, broadcasts, and live chat interactions.
Action Required
As a result of this update, our codebase has undergone extensive modifications. We kindly request that you re-upload any media files currently used in existing bot flows and within the flow builder. This step is crucial for maintaining proper functionality and resolving the critical issues we’ve encountered.
We understand that this may cause some inconvenience, but it’s essential for us to enhance your experience with xpressbot.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we implement these improvements!
